Ceramic tile art also known as “fire paintings” is created by ceramic artist Brenda McMahon in her studio located in Greenwich, New York. Brenda makes all her ceramic tiles by hand. She explores her signature saggar style, by pushing it and moving it in new directions which have opened up a vast expanse of fire paintings results. Some of these fire paintings delve into the soft, abstracted landscape imagery while others remind the viewer of fossils embedded in clay - or emotional expressions dancing off the surface of the tile mural.

Brenda intuitively understands how the materials interact with the flames dancing across the surface of the tiles and thus designs these quiet yet powerful paintings. It has taken Brenda more than a decade to perfect this firing process. These “fire paintings” contain strong, sensitive, compelling imagery, a fine balance of control and serendipity producing an exquisite painted ceramic tile art piece to enhance the esthetic beauty of any home.

About her painted ceramic tile art Brenda says:

“Organic material is my brush
and the mystical alchemy of ancient fire, my muse.
I design these “fire paintings” as abstract, sometimes emotional landscapes.
The designs can also take their own course, much like nature itself, entering the realm of celestial kaleidoscopes and surprises beyond.
I often wonder about these surprises,
is it the Big Bang in every fire or
hidden mystical lands, yet discovered?”

All “Fire Paintings” are one-of-a-kind, decorative wall pieces. Smaller tiles are designed to hang on a standard hook in any home or office. Larger fire paintings can be delivered and installed free of charge or shipped at cost. “Fire Painting” ceramic tiles are fired in all natural materials.
